I've spent most of my adult life attempting to communicate the gospel to secular folk in ways which do not encourage them to reject it before they've even understood it.
And, like most theologians (except the BEST one's :-)), my attempts were usually more opaque than the Bible it sought to communicate.
This afternoon I had either a stroke of genius, a stroke of Holy Spirit inspired revelation, or simply a stroke smile emoticon .
The gospel is the story of the Emperor's new clothes.
The Emperor is Death and its pretended authority over human life.
God in Christ is the boy who recognizes the Emperor's nakedness and is sufficiently innocent and uncorrupted by political concerns to say so.

Bill, I believe that you may have underestimated your own successes. Having been raised in the Catholic church but exposed to your ideals in my teens; I have always appreciated your ability to present theology in a more palatable format.
